To align people and organizations of goodwill collaborate and co-create effective talent development program/pipelines to meet both individual career needs and workforce development needs for high demand occupations in Pontiac and Michigan.

OUR VALUE AND VISION

TDC in conjunction with the Oakland University Pontiac Initiative (OUPI), Baker College & Oakland Community College are geared on providing pre-apprentice and apprenticeship programs in competitive industries such as​Construction, Advanced Manufacturing, Business/IT and Healthcare Services. TDC core values include cross-everything collaboration, needs assessment, co-creativity, civic engagement, people development through work-integrated learning, get right to work.

OUR VISION?

To create an exemplary coalition model to train and immediately place 400 workers per year by 2024, thus creating an exemplary coalition model for the state of Michigan.

The Talent Development Coalition is a combined partnership with local leading professionals & educators in collaboration with over 27 organizations from government, education, industry, and non-profit sectors. TDC seeks to provide training and job opportunities for underemployed workers by using a $150,000 Marshall Plan for Talent Innovation Grant from the State of Michigan put forth by Oakland University, as part of its Pontiac Initiative.

The TDC program was tasked to create various development programs in construction, advanced manufacturing, business and information technology, and health care. All of these are in high-demand across the state of Michigan as well as the rest of the country. 

MAKING CONNECTIONS

The Talent Development Coalition was formed to recruit students interested in entering the competitive workforce for an all-expenses-paid pre-apprentice and apprenticeship programs such as:

*Construction,

*Advance Manufacturing,

*Business/IT

*and Healthcare Services    

PAID TO WORK
& LEARN

TDC's Pre-apprentices are paid to work and learn with partnered organizations for hands-on training 30 hours per week and participate in the apprenticeship programs for 10 hours per week. There, they will sit with some of our top professors from our partners such as:

*Oakland University
*Oakland Community College 

*and Baker College

PROFESSIONALLY QUALIFIED

After completing the apprenticeship programs, students are encouraged to start formal apprenticeships with company or union programs or to continue their education at Baker College, Oakland Community College, or Oakland University.
