About the Role

Basic Function:
The Senior Managing Director provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. The Senior Managing Director serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the clients of Washington Events. The Senior Managing Director also serves as a liaison to the board of directors and senior management teams; organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversees special projects.

The Senior Managing Director must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-oriented. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

They must have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Requirements

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate complex, senior-level internal/external meetings, and conference calls.

  • Maintain briefing materials and talking points for meetings and speaking opportunities. Liaise with other divisions to coordinate materials as needed.

  • Track requests needed from internal stakeholders and work with senior executives to ensure that responses are provided in a timely manner.

  • Maintain an extremely detailed calendar and related logistics.

  • Handle a high volume of phone calls and interact with senior-level business leaders in a professional and effective manner.

  • Respond and follow up on client requests.

  • Coordinate a high volume of domestic and international travel.

  • Process expense reports.

  • Perform other tasks, including but not limited to, preparing correspondence and other communications, file organization, research, archiving.

  • Maintain an understanding of firm policies.

  • Knowledge of general business, corporate, and government cultures.

  • Ability to handle extremely sensitive, confidential, and non-routine information

  • Comfortable working with people at all organizational levels.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, and prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Must have excellent judgment; be an independent thinker and resourceful.

  • The highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion required.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Must work cooperatively with fellow Washington Events employees, advocate and follow the Washington Events core values daily.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions to Education and Experience Requirements.

Job Type: Part-time to Full-time

Ability to Commute/Relocate:

Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb County MI. (Required)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or five to 10 years of experience supporting C-Level Executives, preferably in a non-profit organization.

Experience:

  • Strong work tenure.

  • Experience and interest in internal and external communications, partnership development, and fundraising

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms)
