BLACKWALL
STREET
W.E. DISCOVER!
In the early 1900s, Tulsa, Oklahoma experienced a major oil boom, attracting thousands. Many African Americans migrated from southern states hoping to escape the harsh racial tensions while profiting off of the oil industry. Yet even in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jim Crow laws were at large, causing the town to be vastly segregated with most African Americans settling in the northern section of the town. From that segregation grew a black entrepreneurial mecca that would affectionately be called “Black Wall Street”. The town was established in 1906 by entrepreneur O.W. Gurley, and by 1921 there were over 11,000 residents and hundreds of prosperous businesses, all owned and operated by black Tulsans and patronized by both whites and blacks. READ MORE!

Main Events
WE strive to create an opportunity to educate and empower young African Americans who seek to become strengthen by history and strides as a result of the trading and merchant relationships between the African American community and other nations, culture, religions, and races on a local and international level. Our hopes are, by partnering with O.C.E.D.C. and providing four HRCI Training Workshops/Professional Development programs to large businesses, education facilities, government organizations and other groups that provide services and/ employment to communities of color that this will allow Washington Events to open the dialog about African American Communities, providing direct knowledge and best practices on topics specific to black culture to all.

Testimonials
Amber Garrett,
Assistant Director, Career Development
I had the great pleasure of attending one of Ms. Washington's events and was extremely impressed by the care and attention to detail that obviously went into the planning. The room was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was lovely. What I was most impressed by was Ms. Washington's presence and professionalism throughout the day. You can tell that she cares deeply for the work that she does and I look forward to attending another one of her events very soon.
Rosie Lance-Richardson,
Pontiac Public Library Board Chairman
It is my pleasure to let Washington Events know that our experience has been great. In 2015, the Pontiac Public Library hosted the first annual Library Gala. We celebrated our 90th anniversary at the Pontiac Creative Art Center. We engaged an event planner that was unable to commit the time for the event. Ms. Washington happened to be in Panera Bread for lunch. I consulted with her and explained our dilemma. We scheduled some time to visit the site. The Pontiac Public Library Gala took place.
We have since utilized her services since February 2015. She has coordinated several of our annual events and recommend her services. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information.
Warm regards,
Rosie Lance-Richardson
